Soups for expansive energy!
Soups have been used for thousands of years in many cultures and a soup prepared with fresh, organic vegetables, herbs, spices, and a healthy broth is not only delicious and immune boosting, but also wonderful for your digestion.
As part of the work I do, soup is always on the list for restorative healing. In Chinese therapeutic nutrition, food is considered medicine for the body.
What's nutrient dense?
"Nutrient-dense foods are those foods that provide substantial amounts of vitamins and minerals and relatively few calories." (According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005)
The long simmering process of making soup has been shown to break down and dissolve the nutrients from the soups ingredients… this simmering process makes soup "nutrient dense" and easier for your body to digest and absorb.
If you have digestive issues, are healing from an illness, or just plain exhausted… you may want to try incorporating soup into one or meals during your day.
Have you ever tried soup for breakfast?
It’s a great way to start your day!
The more your body absorbs high quality nutrients, the more you will support your immune system.
Have fun with this recipe…. Add some spice?!?
Cook with your family, be creative… It is so important that young people know that healthy food is fun and delicious. The more fun they have making healthy food with you, I believe the easier it will be for them in their own kitchen!
Use bright colored veggies and dark leafy greens. Bright colored veggies and dark leafy greens are rich in minerals and vitamins and their bright color indicates that they contain phytonutrients – phytonutrients are antioxidants and very important for our health. ► Download Soup Recipe HERE!
