Hello, everyone, welcome. This is Maria Furlano. Thank you for joining me today.
It’s June 30, 2020 when I’m recording this episode and what an amazing few months, it’s been as we get ready to move into July, and I say this with a smile on my face because from an energetic and spiritual view, the growth that is happening right now in the world in each of us is amazing.
And something that I’m working on doing right now is focusing only on that growth. So when stress comes in, or when confusing information comes in, when fears start to rise up… I’ve made a commitment to myself to realign and to look, with curious eyes at the growth that’s happening.
And today I’d like to share with you four insights that I hope will give you something to focus on as well, especially if you’re feeling stressed, especially if you’re starting to feel exhausted. Even though things right now are opening up, there’s a lot of places that are now starting to close down again in certain areas. And this is a marathon, not a sprint, and I’m going to talk to you a little bit about that today.
~ Breathing Break and Tao Te Ching Chapter 22 ~
But first, if you could just focus with me just for a moment and take a nice deep breath. As always, I love to tune in with you and breathe for just a moment because remembering to breathe is one of the absolute best assets we can use – tools we can use – to ground our energy to calm our mind to slower heart and actually to open our heart. If you’re new, thank you for for joining me today! And if you’ve been here for a while, you know that I love to take a nice deep breath in and then when you exhale, you make your exhale longer than your inhale. So please inhale nice and long… And you exhale even longer, whatever feels good to you, and that really calms your heart.
And so if you’ll do that a few times, I’m going to read something while we’re all breathing. Just to kind of set the tone for today and this is from The Tao Te Ching of Lao Tzu Translated by Brian Browne Walker. I just love it and it’s chapter 22.
Chapter 22, The Tao Te Ching. Translated by Brian Browne Walker…
Allow yourself to yield, and you can stay centered.
Allow yourself to bend, and you will stay straight.
Allow yourself to be empty, and you’ll get filled up.
Allow yourself to be exhausted, and you will be renewed.
Having little, you can receive much.
Having much, you’ll just become confused.
A lot of information that’s coming to us now, that’s been coming to us for many months, that is confusing to a lot of people and there’s a lot of scattered energy And I think people now are getting more comfortable with it. Which is kind of funny. But there’s something that I think is really important that’s been happening when we have confusing information. When we have the scattering of energy. When people feel like there isn’t any real leadership that’s happening or not enough leadership that happens is it forces us, if will allow it, it forces us to actually begin to listen to ourselves and take responsibility ourselves. We can become, these great followers and that’s not what this time is about.
This time is about taking responsibility for our own energy and our own growth.
And there’s something that I was really realizing the other day. As a healer, we learn we go through so much training, looking at energy, but also looking at the energy within ourselves.
There’s of course the saying you cannot heal in someone else which you haven’t been able to see and heal in yourself. What’s happening right now in our world is we’re healing on a completely different level. And a lot of what we’re looking at isn’t new, but it feels new.
When we get overwhelmed, we block our energy.
All we do is constrict new information, new energy and healing and growth that is here for us.
So in the very beginning, when I said you know, this is a marathon, not a sprint… Everything that we’re going through right now, in our world, this is not a quick fix. This is not just going to go away by brushing it under the table. And I think if you’re someone who’s listening to this podcast, you know this, so it’s, you know, like preaching to the choir. But it might be a good reminder to remember that this is a long haul of healing and growth and just like any cultivation practice, you’re not going to learn everything in one day in one week, even in one year. Right?
This is a continual expansion of energy and communication and receiving, and we really cannot shift what we don’t know. So our awareness right now is coming to fruition. The awareness part of everything that’s happening right now is so important. The healing is happening, but it’s a little bit away, right. You have to have the awareness first in order to create the transformation and there comes a point in the long haul of healing, where we start to get tired. And that fatigue causes us to block and start to push away.
And so, today I just like to share four insights that maybe will help you just remember to tune in a little bit more, if you’re getting frustrated, or if you find that you’re exhausted.
#1 Find the positive and forward moving events…
The first thing is to remember is to try not to be so serious about anything. This is heavy duty information that we’re continually hearing about day after day, and it’s serious information and we want to take it seriously. And I’m not making a joke about it at all. But there is a point you can begin to shove down stagnate, stifle constrict your mental energy, your emotional energy and your physical energy so much, that you actually begin to enjoy your health and remembering the lightness of joy, remembering to laugh, remembering to tune in and focus on things that are going well things that are actually moving in the right direction is so very, very important. Emotional overload is a real thing and we are in an emotional information, overload time, we have access to everything and everything is repeated over and over and over again. So I always suggest that people begin if they really want to find out information that they start to search for the positive things, because in the media, they will show They’re more negative things because they found that it increases their ratings. There’s this phrase in media that I’ve heard. It’s just a terrible phrase. But it’s says, if it bleeds, it leads. And that’s just awful, right? It’s just disgusting. But it seems to have worked for years and years and years people tune in, they want to, it’s like that car wreck that you don’t want to look at, but you can’t help but look at.
Tune in to a higher frequency
And so if you want to tune into a higher frequency, you’re going to have to search out on your own the positive information that actually is going on in the world, you’re going to have to tell your brain to show you the positive things so our brain reacts to what it thinks we want to see. So if we’re focusing on the negative things, If we’re only hearing information that is fearful, negative, constricting, angry, our brain will say, “Oh, well, that’s what, that’s what Maria wants to focus on. Okay, let me show her more of that. Let me bring more of that to her.”
Our brain is just filtering out everything that it doesn’t think is important and showing us what it thinks, we think is important because we’re telling it.
We can change that filtration system.
And in mindset practices, we’re always realigning our brain we’re always realigning our thoughts were realigning our focus, when you realign your focus and you actually begin to speak about positive things.
Look for positive things, share positive things on social media, talk to friends about positive things and actually say, “Does anybody know about any real positive things that have happened? Events, etc that are happening right now? I’d love to know about them! And I’d love to share them!”
Your brain will say, “Oh, that’s important to her, or him. That’s important to Maria. Let me let me find this for her. Let me show her more of this.”
And it will begin to show you less of – you’ll be in touch with less of the negative the fear the anger, because you’re actually re-tuning and realigning what your brain focuses on.
So that’s a very simple idea. And it is a simple thing to do, but it’s going to take commitment because it’s not in our world right now, especially in depending on who you hang out with. What it is activities you’re currently doing. This may be a real switch in your daily life and you may have to spend some energy seeking out more positive things if it isn’t natural for you. And if it is natural for you, that’s fantastic, share more so more people can find it.
So that’s one thing. Don’t take things so seriously – find the joy, find the light, because you need that to balance your energy. Everything is balanced. Everything is harmony. We can’t just focus on the negative and deeply, deeply explore. We have to allow our energy to lighten up to breathe, to laugh, right? To have fun to move to play. It’s really important. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
#2 Get your energy grounded
And the second thing is, absolutely and of course I’ve talked about this in other podcasts, learn to ground your energy. When you root your Qi (Qi is energy), you then have a foundation you can stand in. And you can expand from.
When we have scattered energy, from fear from overwhelm, that energy is not grounded… When I see somebody’s energy that’s very scattered… I mean, it’s literally like darts, that are just darting all around their field (mostly in their upper body, and their head) and it’s completely on grounding, it’s all over the place. The focus is very difficult. They’re exhausted, right, because there’s no ability to really focus because the energy is just constantly scattered… Scattered Qi.
So we want to take that energy and this is really good to remember if you’re experiencing overwhelm, or if you’re experiencing anxiety if you can understand that your energy is moving up and out, instead of being grounded and centered… So, we want to take that energy that’s scattered, that’s overwhelmed, that’s anxious and we want to bring it in and we want to grounded into the earth.
So grounding on a daily basis, especially right now is so important. And, you know if you ground first, and of course being with nature, putting your feet in the grass, being with a tree, if you practice Qigong, doing “Pulling Down Heavens” exercises, doing meditation, doing a walking meditation, if you practice yoga, you do your yoga practices, everything that grounds you right, then you would want to then focus your mind into looking for the positive aspects that Life has to show you.
#3 We’re all in a new vibration, be an empty cup…
And then the third is to really accept that we are in a brand new energetic state and to have an empty cup. Right so, in Eastern philosophy an empty cup means that you your vessel, your being, your spiritual nature, your learning capacity is empty, so that you can take in new information and be full.
But if you’re full of information, if you have a ton of opinions, if you’re dealing with a lot of negativity, or if you’re just blowing things off, or you think you know, everything, your cup is full… You can’t learn anything new. So, be an empty cup.
If we can look at everything right now instead of being overwhelmed and anxious and fearful and frustrated with, you know, misinformation, confusing information, no information… If we can just take our focus away from all of that, and we can go into a purely energetic and spiritual place and say, this is a brand new energy that we are living in right now. And that is proceeding forward. And I choose to be an empty cup to learn and receive all of this new information that is here for me to grow with and to share with others and support others and to really transform right again.
Awareness, creates, brings transformation.
Being an empty cup allows the awareness to come in to create the transformation in ourselves in the planet.
#4 This is a marathon, not a sprint…
And then the very last thing that I’d like to share, again is going back to this is a marathon, not a sprint. And to remember that small doses, small doses of information, small doses of expansion.
In other podcasts I’ve talked about how, when you cultivate your energy when you do energy practices, you don’t just, you know, fill yourself up with energy that your body has to actually change its frequency to vibrate with the new energy, your cells actually change their frequency.
So I’ve given the example before of if you had a house plant and you wanted to water that plant, right, but let’s say you were going to be going away for a month so you wouldn’t just, you know, pour gallons of water in that plant just because you were going away for a month and no one would be watering it because what would happen it would completely overflow all of the nutrients in the plant that dirt, the soil would come and pour out, pour over and you’d kill the plant, you would need to set up a watering system that would allow small watering right to happen with the plants so it would stay nourished because we can only take in so much and we have to absorb it, we have to release it right there’s processes.
This is the same thing that’s happening right now. Not a sprint sprint, right, this is a marathon, meaning that as we transform our energy, we are transforming into a new vibrational frequency. And if we want to do that with more grace and ease, it means that we have to allow in small doses of transformation.
And by grounding our energy, and focusing our energy to find the positive and the enlightened places, the enlightened states of being that are occurring in our world right now, on the planet, with people with animals, the energy as a whole, and then as we accept that we are learning and we allow ourselves to be an empty cup, then we can transform through this time, with greater peace and greater ease and make permanent shifts that are lasting, that are loving, and that are truly enlightened.
As I always say, and I truly mean it…
Thank you for being exactly who you are. Because that’s needed now more than anything else in the world.
Thank you for tuning in with me today.
